Take a break
Tirzah L Jones
As I write this I am preparing to go on holiday, something I must confess I’m greatly looking forward to, a time for rest, relaxation and recharging of batteries.
One of the great dangers that many involved in children’s and youth work find is they never really take time to rest. God gave us one day in a week to spend in Sabbath rest, time we should use not only for physical rest but a spiritual ‘recharging’.
If you are involved in giving out in ministry it is important that you take time to be fed yourself. If you are in Sunday School in a morning, make sure you protect your Sunday Evening service for you own personal feeding.
In addition to our weekly Sabbath rest, it is important to take time away from the responsibilities of our work. Jesus himself took time to be alone, (Matthew 14:23) time to spend in specific prayer, (Luke 6:12) he went to the Synagogue on the Sabbath (Luke 4:16) as well as personal time with his close friends. (Mark 6:30-32)
As you look towards the holidays make sure you take some time to rest and get ready for the new term, which will come round only too soon!
